Encore! Mt. Morris’s fifth gallery show of 2017 will open on September 1st in the Old Sandstone Gallery, and run through September 29. The juried, unthemed show invites artists using a variety of media in 2D or 3D format to participate. Artists may submit 1-3 images of their original works for consideration. Artists must be 18 or older. The deadline for applications has been extended to July 26. Click here for the official Call for Entries documentation and the online application form.

The historic Mt. Morris College campus contains the oldest building in Mt. Morris, a beautifully preserved sandstone building used for science classes at the College and later converted to Watt Publishing Company. Encore! Mt. Morris has been able to acquire the use of the first floor as a multi-purpose art gallery space. Refurbished, painted and equipped during the summer of 2016 for art displays by volunteers, it has served as the anchor space for Encore! Mt. Morris to host numerous shows.

Regular shows are scheduled throughout the summer months, during the December holiday season, and less frequently at other times during the school year. The gallery is open during the summer Jamboree music concert series (Friday evenings) and Kable Band concerts (Wednesday evenings) and during other community events and festivals, as publicized. During the summer of 2017, the following shows will be featured:

  • Student Art Show, June 9-28. Opening: June 9, 6-9:30pm
  • Pop-up Regional Artist Showcase, June 30-July 28. Opening: June 30, 6-9:30pm
  • STEAM Student Art Show, Mt. Morris Library sponsor, August 1-5. Opening TBD.
  • Watt Global Media 100-year Anniversary Art Show, August 11-27. Opening: August 11, 6:30-9:30
  • Old Sandstone Fine Arts Show (featuring regional artists), Sept 1-29. Opening: Sept 1, 6-9:30pm
