Artist-in-Residence 2021

Encore! Mt. Morris welcomes Annie Timmer as their Summer 2021 Artist-in-Residence. This is the fourth year for the Encore! A-i-R ten week summer artist position. Annie is a Forreston High School honors graduate, and currently a sophomore art education major at Illinois State University. She has received many art awards, and has had years of experience in Girl Scouting, 4-H, FFA, weaving/quilting, trap shooting, and has served in various leadership positions. Annie and Encore! are planning many ways to make art fun this summer, including designing a number of paint-the-town projects in Mt. Morris parks, the Senior Center and other locations. Help is needed! High school students and adults interested in participating in the summer art projects can volunteers by emailing ATimmer@encoremtmorris.com.
Encore is always looking for volunteers including hosting at the gallery for up to 2 hours on a Wednesday or Friday evening and during weekend events on the campus. There are many other ways to get involved with Encore,
click here-Volunteer, email mollyb@encoremtmorris.com, or call the Village Hall at 815-734-6425.

The historic Mt. Morris College campus contains the oldest building in Mt. Morris, a beautifully preserved sandstone building used for science classes at the College and later converted to Watt Publishing Company. Encore! Mt. Morris has been able to acquire the use of the first floor as a multi-purpose art gallery space. Refurbished, painted and equipped during the summer of 2016 for art displays by volunteers, it has served as the anchor space for Encore! Mt. Morris to host numerous shows.

Regular shows are scheduled throughout the summer months, during the December holiday season, and less frequently at other times during the school year. The gallery is open during the summer Jamboree music concert series (Friday evenings) and Kable Band concerts (Wednesday evenings) and during other community events and festivals, as publicized.
