Encore! Mt. Morris will be sponsoring a chartered bus trip to “Illumination: Tree Lights at The Morton Arboretum” on December 1st, 2021. An exciting exhibit of hundreds of trees, lit up for the holidays will be the feature of the trip. An art-oriented excursion seeing the Naperville murals and eating dinner prior to the Illumination visit will begin the trip. In its ninth year, “Illumination” will surround us by color as we walk a one-mile paved path amid interactive lighting effects that highlight the beauty of trees in winter. We’ll enjoy seasonal music, marvel at ever-changing, interactive lighting designs, and warm up by a crackling fire with a cozy drink or seasonal snacks from concession stands on the grounds. Cost: $55 ($49 for accompanied children 2-17). Cost includes Bus trip and Morton tickets included. Dinner purchase is not included.
Approximate schedule 12:00 noon - 10:30pm. Bus capacity will be limited to 30 participants in a 56-seat bus so that participants can spread out. Vaccination of all participants is encouraged so that all will be comfortable. Registration can be completed here "Morton Arboretum Trip" or at Village Hall, 105 W. Lincoln St, Mt. Morris IL 61054. Registration deadline: Oct 23 because tickets for the Illumination event must be purchased in advance. Questions? email@example.com More details will be provided upon registration.
The historic Mt. Morris College campus contains the oldest building in Mt. Morris, a beautifully preserved sandstone building used for science classes at the College and later converted to Watt Publishing Company. Encore! Mt. Morris has been able to acquire the use of the first floor as a multi-purpose art gallery space. Refurbished, painted and equipped during the summer of 2016 for art displays by volunteers, it has served as the anchor space for Encore! Mt. Morris to host numerous shows.
Regular shows are scheduled throughout the summer months, during the December holiday season, and less frequently at other times during the school year. The gallery is open during the summer Jamboree music concert series (Friday evenings) and Kable Band concerts (Wednesday evenings) and during other community events and festivals, as publicized.
